Our New Blog to Help YOU the Space Renter!!

Hello from the Union Project. Welcome to our new blog. This page is an attempt to help you get a better idea of the space that we provide and the mission of our organization. I will post rental events and their pictures to help you think of ways of doing your event here at the UP as well as our own outreach events in order to let you know how we like to decorate and make use of our space.

Murray & Diersen Wedding Reception

My first wedding reception here at the Union Project was a blessing because the groom was one of the architects who helped to plan out our space. He was more than capable at making a layout for the table placements! You'll note that they used apples and wild flowers as their center pieces and used a deep brown for some of their table clothes and used a great auburn color for their napkins.

Unfortunately, as wedding reception did not get started until around 7pm, the guests did not get to see the 100 year old stained glass windows for too long. They had around 140 guests and used both the Atrium and Great Hall to accommodate them. The stage had a live band, The Metropolitans with a horn section that really filled the space with sound .

Even with a couple of the windows missing from the upper balcony window, the building still manages to clean up pretty well.

I am a huge fan of the wedding "cake" which was provided for the couple by Dozen Cupcakes

The Elias Bar Mitzvah

The Elias Bar Mitzvah, 10/11/08, was one of the first events that I, the space rental manager, had a hand in planning and it was a real pleasure to work with this family. They had an excellent array of games and crafts for kids to participate in while the adults were left to their own devices. I might add that most of the adults at one point or another joined in the fun.

It's a little bit tough to see, but they had a family slide show projected up onto the front wall of the Great Hall and they had a small Art Gallery set up for the guests on the stage.

Clinton from Strictly Business Catering did most of the food for this event and provided recyclable plates and flatware, which looked very nice in black and white square pieces.

This is what they left me to pass on to you in case you are interested in the same kind of kid-friendly entertainment..
